Darien What a story I have for you tonight, Princess Morrigan! My conscience brought me to the town of Darien, Where I parked, wandered the tracks, and talked to the lineman. I asked him about vouchers, but I had parked on the sand. Turns out that particular area was just not part of the land For which the vouchers covered. Fountains, green grass, stonewalls, impeccable streets: The pavement is perfectly black. The lines are cleanly painted. Perfectly arranged brick make up the sidewalks. Pedestrian crossing signs stand, About waist high and as thick as the hand, Bright yellow except for bright red and white yield signs. From the raised concrete side walks that dove under the tracks Metro North took me south or perhaps west toward the city Harlem, my intended destination of the afternoon, Did not seem to hold a candle to the streets of Darien. I continued on, to the terminal of the tracks. Mid-town was easier to swallow after a jaunt in Darien. Crossing streets, in an aimless manner, I made my way To the village, where I met a drunk or a junkie, I couldn’t quite tell. He just got a job in graphic design. Back east from the city of angels, dumped by his girlfriend, Living off some new bitch. I left him in McDonalds. Found some new McStreet down the far side of Washington Square. Bars and coffee houses lined the street. Don’t know why I hadn’t seen it before; it’s always been there. Wandered up an alley on the near side of Washington Square. The tiger stripe tights girl was straddling her pasty man. I sat further down the alley to study astrology, wait till six. Girls stopped by and said hi, to which I took little interest. But dear princess, you are too wise for me to deceive. And it is too difficult to deny the ways of this Pisces. However, I made an error. I arrived at class too early to be allowed in the building. So did Jeffrey. Jeffrey and I went to Starbucks. We got coffee. We got called honey by the barista. We stood outside the building and talked about Ed 2010. Jeffery called it a meat market. I had never been. We went in the building. In class the normally cute girl was hot. Hot, sexy and hot, intelligent She just wasn’t going to stop. Won the class contest, Had applied for new jobs, And somehow she got behind me leaving the building She seemed to follow me, after telling me it was her birthday I knew my line but did not follow step. We passed our separate ways. I arrived at the library and turned on my phone. Five minutes passed before the message arrived. The Hunt contrived all my sensation. The rain began to fall as I verified the message. Then as I hung up, I gave into the temptation! “Go.” The banshees screamed up along the skyline To reek havoc as they will. The rain, Which had briefly become a downpour, stopped. I returned to Darien. Current Mood: |
